GLORIOUS greetings, Cherished one. According to our focal text, instead of the spirit of fear, God has rather given you that of a sound mind; one vital virtue you shouldn’t downplay or trivialise. *The only wise God knows all the resources that you’ll ever need to fulfill the assignment given you; and sound mind is one of them.* Sound mind as used here implies wholeness in thinking, healthiness of attitude, sanity and sensibility. It is also synonymous to self-discipline or self-control.

*Sound mind is what balances how you use power and the love given to you.* It enables you to control or discipline self. Most times, self can be exalted above measure when not controlled. And sound mind is the weapon to discipline self so that it will not rise against the dictate of godliness and God’s word. Beloved, a sound mind is one under the influence of the word of God, not the flesh. It does not allow self to override the truths of the knowledge of God’s word. Sound mind is the environment where your mind is kept in perfect peace because it is set on God.

*When your mind is not set on God but on self, economy, family background, your own experiences and challenges of life, your mind will always be influenced by the things outside instead of the God within you.* A sound mind allows the peace of God which passes all understanding to rule it in all soundness, discipline and soberness. With this, you will not allow fear to conquer you. You have been given a sound mind, so keep fixing your eyes on Christ, the everlasting anchor and solid rock. The rich grace of our Lord Jesus Christ abounds towards you always.
