10. Miss Walters
The 2019 Ghana Urban Gospel Music Awards Rap Artist of the Year and the new GospelTown Africa signee, Linda Mireku Walters known by stage name as Miss Walters is a typical country kid who’s life changed after the death of her father. She wasn’t born in a Christian home, she had always loved rap music by artist like 2 Pac , Notorious BIG, MC Lyte, Queen Latifah etc.
However, the death of her father made her see the realities of life after she was introduced to a church. Scriptures changed her heart and mindset and got to know Jesus Christ who’s blood is greater than any sin she has committed and she believed she’s a new creation after accepting CHRIST.
Miss Walters was recently in Dubai and Kenya engaging in series of performances with top urban gospel artistes, raising the bar to another level in her music career.
9. Psalm One
Psalm 1, the Christ Junkie is a multiple award-winning poet, rapper, spoken word artist, musician, event organiser and artist coach. He is one of the key pioneers of Urban Gospel rap/hip-pop and spoken word in Ghana and the last standing member of one of the first urban gospel groups in Ghana: Heavens Connection. He has influenced the culture in style and dressing with his famous branded haircut, African prints and the consistent wearing of Vans shoes. He is considered by many to be the Face of gospel poetry/spoken word and lyricism and is arguably the greatest to ever do it thus far.
8. KobbySalm
Samuel Kwabena Adjei Darteh, artistically known as KobbySalm was born on May 14th in Accra (Ghana) and studied Communications in the African University College Of Communications.
He started Christian/Gospel Music in 2016 after he was convinced during a church ministration by the holy spirit that his purpose was to influence the youth with his gift and life experiences. As a Christian rap artist, KobbySalm usually loves to explore genres with his rap although his interest mainly is Soul Hip-hop.
7. Regardless
Regardless is one of the finest Urban Gospel, Inspirational and HipHop artiste. He is also the President for The Truth Nation.
6. Christ Image
Oduro Nketia Anyan, better known by the stage name Christ Image, is a Ghanaian Christian rapper and producer. As an indie artiste, Christ Image aka Ci has been collaborating with other Christian Rap artists since 2008 when he released his first single “Get Yo Christ On” which appeared on dasouth.com (now jamthehype.com).
In 2010, Ci collaborated with Preachers to remix “Get Yo Christ On”. The following year Christ Image was featured by Preachers on their smashing hit single, “Go Hard” which won Most Wanted Rap Song at Christian Community Music Awards in 2013.
In 2015, Christ Image released a self-produced single “I’m Saved” which debuted No. 6 on Sampson Annan’s Gospel Chart Show, Ashanti Gospel Songs Chart on Kapital Radio.
5. Belac360
Caleb Nartey, from West Africa Ghana popularly known as Belac360 is a Christian hip hop artist, songwriter, producer and TV host who desires to impact a generation with the truth (The Word of God).
Receiving Christ as Lord and personal savior at a very young age, Belac360 began playing drums as a young teen and discovered a natural deft for rhyming on hearing hip hop beats.
Belac360 is the founder of New Era, a group of zealous young men and women who use their God-given talents to serve God alone. Mentored by the urban gospel powerhouse Preachers, Belac360 is a member of Bibles up the Movement.
4. Esaias
Born and raised in Kumasi, Esaias grew up with his grandmother, Esther Mensah of blessed memory. The interest in music for Es,was realized at an early age of 11yrs when his aunt Dora handed him a lyrics of a popular pop song of the 90’s.
3. Lil Zig
Franklin Attakora Boateng is the real name for Ghanaian urban gospel artiste Lil Zig whose main objective is to draw the youth closer to God through Christ using their individual gifts.
He Started his music career in 2010 but got serious in 2012, Lil Zig has released a couple of singles which has really announced his presence in the urban music fame and Ghanaian music at large.
Lil Zig is the founder of Acid Rain Entertainment, a record label which grooms talents for the Lord. Lil Zig has also initiated a street movement called “InTown4Christ” whose major aim is to win lost souls for Christ.
2. Kingzkid
Multiple award-winning gospel artiste, Kingzkid, has made a name for himself as one of the major contributors to urban gospel music in Ghana and has proved his ability and God-given talent both in Ghana and around the world, preaching the Gospel through Gospel rap music.
The Central University graduate combines eclectic music styles and spirit-filled lyrics to edify the body of Christ at large. The CEO of Gifted Music Records has touched lives across the world with his dynamic style of gospel music and he usually travels around the African continent with his “Amplified” youth movement to organize his annual “Amplified Concert” which gathers thousands of youth together in worship.
1. Preachers
By God’s divine favour, Preachers began to enter into the limelight in 2011/2012, climbing up charts, getting a nomination for Best Afro Gospel Rap Group in the UK (Africa Gospel Music Awards 2012) and eventually Winning the Discovery of the Year Award at the Ghana Gospel Music Awards 2012 (A major breakthrough for GH Gospel Rap Ministry).
Their song “GO HARD” became the theme song for many international radio stations including GBS1 (UK), VOA (UK), and Angels of Sweet Melodies (USA).
Their slogan is “Bibles Up” because they stand for the truth – the Bible. Ghanaian Urban Gospel group, Preachers is made up of three members, Obed Psych, Emani Beats and Edmund Baidoo.
Preachers, the pacesetters of the urban gospel movement in Ghana have toured locally and internationally to preach the word of God through their music are 10 years and have released their much anticipated album ‘X’.
