The general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has rejected the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The CAMA, which was signed into law by the president on August 7, has generated controversy in the last few weeks.
Vanguard reports that Adeboye’s position is not diametrically different from the stands of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).
CAMA gives a provision for religious bodies, non-governmental organisations and charity organisations to be regulated by the registrar of the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, and a supervising minister.
The head of media and public relations of RCCG, Pastor Olaitan Olubiyi, said the church has aligned with the stands of CAN and PFN on CAMA.

He said: “We always align ourselves with whatever the stand of the leadership of CAN and PFN on issues like this. The Redeemed Christian Church of God does not take any decision that is at variance with the stand of CAN and PFN and the same thing applies concerning this very issue.”
Recently Bishop David Oyedepo of Winners’ Chapel strongly rejected CAMA.
Oyedepo made his rejection of the law known when he addressed members of his congregation on Sunday, August 16.
He said, the government is jealous of the prosperity recorded by the church.
He argued that it is not right to subject God’s heritage on earth (churches) to the same laws as companies.
Oyedepo said: “The church is God’s heritage on earth. Molest the wife of somebody and you will see the anger of that person. The church is the bride of Christ.
