Q & A: Is God hearing my prayers?
1 John 5:14-15 says, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him” (NIV).
The key to knowing that God is hearing your prayers is to pray according to His will.
How do you ensure you’re praying God’s will? You pray His Word!
The Word of God is His will. He has made some very specific promises in it. And it’s His will to fulfill every one of them. We need to grab our Bibles and find out what the will of God is for whatever situation we’re facing.
When you pray God’s Word as written in the Bible, you are no longer praying just hoping to get results. You’re praying in faith and expecting to get results because you know what you’re praying is His will.
When you pray God’s Word, you’re not rattling off a bunch of religious-sounding words. You’re praying accurately because you are praying the very words God has given for His will to be done on earth.
The biggest thing to remember: Don’t pray the problem—pray the promise! Find the promise from God’s Word that applies to your situation, and pray that as the answer. Pray what God has said He will do.
For example, if you’re praying about finances, you could use Philippians 4:19 as the foundation of your prayer: “My God shall supply all [my] need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
If you pray accurately according to the Word, you can always be assured that God hears your prayers!
