REFUSE TO DISAPPOINT YOUR GENERATION
Acts 13 vs
>>36. ¶For David, after he had served God’s will and purpose and counsel in his own generation, fell asleep [in death] and was buried among his forefathers… “~[AMP]
ONE great lesson worthy of emulation in the life of Jesus Christ is that He was born for a purpose and He gloriously fulfilled it before ascending to heaven. It is worth living a purposeful life. Don’t just follow trends. This principle can be seen in the lives of the giants in the Holy Scriptures. Great people are those who have fulfilled their purpose by blessing their generation. Our opening text reveals that King David served God’s will, purpose and counsel in HIS GENERATION” before he fell asleep.
Another great example worthy of emulation was Joseph. He served his family and even the leaders and people in a foreign land (Egypt). However, the life of Joseph was different from that of Gehazi. Joseph faced severe test, trials and temptations but he didn’t allow any to stop him from achieving his godly purpose. He lived a glorious life because God’s presence was with him ( Genesis 39:2 ). God’s presence will help you live a purposeful life.
Gehazi too was a great young man full of energy to serve his spiritual father and his generation beyond. But he had ambitions without vision. He had eyes and love for rewards without insight and discernment for different seasons of life (2 Kings 5:20-27). He wanted instant gratification and shortcuts to wealth instead of listening to his master (experienced spiritual father, Elisha). These characters or scenarios typifies two generations of our time, one has time to wait on God and apply godly principles for success; the other wants to make it by all means even using the bad ways.
My friend, every road has a destination. That’s why we have maps to various countries in the world. You don’t follow North America map and land in West Africa. Never! Refuse to disappoint your God, family, loved ones, friends, company or nation. *Be an asset and serve God’s purpose and counsel in your generation*. To serve means “to render services or minister in order to help others”. This means they were not liabilities in their generation, but a glorious assets. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you always.
PRAYER
Blessed Father, thank you for making me a great asset to serve my generation with Your counsel and purpose. I refuse to be a liability or disappoint my generation. By Your grace, power and wisdom, I live a purposeful life by blessing and impacting my posterity in Jesus Name. Amen!
Enjoy A Purposeful Tuesday
