CHOSEN TO DISPLAY THE VIRTUES OF GOD
1 Peter 2 vs
»»9.¶But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light”. -[KJV]«« ||
THERE IS a literal saying that “if a royal does not see himself as such, a slave is even esteemed highly than him”. If a believer doesn’t know his identity in Christ, it robs him of a vital weight of glory. God wants us to be conscious of who we are. There is an account in Luke where James and John wanted Jesus to rain down fire to consume those who did not receive him, “but He turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye KNOW NOT what manner of spirit ye are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them…” (Luk 9:54-56). Frankly, when you live without the consciousness of who you are, you speak anything and anyhow; you think and act any way your senses move you. You speak death instead of life.
The Spirit of God reveals through the Apostle who and what believers are: We are a chosen generation. Thus, all those who believe in Christ whether Jews or Gentiles are entitled to this identity. The Christian belongs to an elected race, special people unto the Lord God. You are superior to the devil. You are known and recognised by the heavenly executive. You are not just an ordinary human being passing the earth. Christ has qualified you to partake of the divine nature.
You are also a royal priesthood, or kingdom of priests called to offer sacrifices to God, Jesus Christ being our great High Priest. (Ex 19:6; Heb 3:1). You are a holy nation,- you are separated from all the people of the earth, that you might worship the one only true God, and abstain from the abominations that are in the heathen world. You are also a peculiar person, a purchased one; a private property, belonging to God Almighty ( Deut 7:6).
All these are not just titles of the believer, but realities brought to bear through Christ Jesus. We are to show the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of God. You are called to show forth His excellence, goodness, modesty, purity, prosperity, righteousness, grace, power, love etc. You are not who you say you are unless you live it out. We are to show (not hide) the praises of God. Allow God to express His virtues through you. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.
I DECLARE
I am are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, God’s own purchased, special person, to set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called me out of darkness into His marvelous light. I am influencing my world for Christ by showing the praises of God. Thank You Lord. Amen!
