GRACIOUS greetings, Cherished one. One reason we are admonished to be sober and vigilant is that we are still in the world though not of the world. Yes, you were not raptured to heaven when you believed in Christ. So none of us is above being watchful. It is better to stay sober than to be careless. There are forces in this world that can influence you to live a careless life that’s why you must beware. Aside from human philosophy, beware of vain deceit.

Vain deceit simply means something which is empty, void of truth and has no solid foundation. It is a deceitful trick having no content. The Amplified Translation calls it “idle fancies and plain nonsense”. The Apostle shows us the source of these philosophies and vain deceits. They are fashioned after the tradition of men and rudiments of the world and not after Christ.* Traditions of men are people’s ideas or precepts propounded to suit their own interests. Both Jews and gentiles have their own traditions that oppose God’s word.

During the earthly ministry of Jesus, He faced a brutal opposition from the tradition of the elders to the extent that He said: “Making the word of God of NONE EFFECT through your TRADITION, which you have delivered: and many such like things you do” (Mark 7:13). *Beloved, beware of any traditions of men which oppose the effectiveness of God word in your life.* The rich grace of our Lord Jesus Christ abounds towards you always.

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank You for the Spirit of truth at work in me to help me war against philosophies of people and vain deceit which oppose Your wisdom. I stay glued to the truth of Your word for a glorious life in Jesus Blessed Name. Amen!
