FAVOURED greetings Cherished one. Our Lord and Master Jesus Christ set a great standard of love for all who believe in Him to follow. If you look at the character of people your love will be discriminative. He, therefore, continued “For if you love those who love you, what reward can you have? Do not even the tax collectors do that? And if you greet only your brethren, what more than others are you doing? Do not even the Gentiles (the heathen) do that?” (Matthew 5:46,47).
Sometimes you hear people say “If you love me, I will also love you; but if you hate me, I also hate you.” Jesus says that’s the attitude of tax collectors and publicans who were considered to be sinners and covetous. However, Jesus challenges those who believe in Him to go the extra mile to love people who don’t even love or like them. Thus, go beyond what the status quo accepts and show love anyway. He goes on to say don’t only greet your friends, greet those who don’t greet you too.
Beloved, we are called to live a special kind of life that expresses the love of Christ to others beyond the ordinary. Our lifestyle should be one that is motivated by the love of Christ not by revenge, action or reaction of people. In our focal text, Jesus says we must grow into perfection in terms of loving beyond the ordinary. Perfection here means maturity. He says we should reach unto maturity even as our heavenly Father is already perfect in loving all. Thus, grow into complete maturity of godliness in mind and character, having reached the proper height of virtue and integrity as inspired by the Father in heaven. The rich grace of our Lord Jesus Christ abounds towards you always.

PRAYER
Precious Father, I receive increased grace to love beyond the tax collectors and gentiles kind of love. I love with Your kind of love which embraces all and lead to total transformation. Thank You for the heart to love like You in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!
