FOCAL TEXT: John 6 vs 26►► ”Jesus replied, “Let me make this very clear, you came looking for me because I fed you by a miracle, not because you believe in me.” ~| TPT |_____________________________________
FRUITFUL greetings Cherished one. The ministry of Jesus Christ attracted a lot of people including what the scripture called a great multitude (Matthew 4:25). Great multitudes is synonymous with “large or huge crowds”. This was one reason the Jewish leaders set their eyes to hate Him; they thought He was gaining too much attention from the people and could win them to His side politically. In our focal text, Jesus made it clear that the people followed Him because He fed them by a miracle not because they believed in Him.
Beloved, people love miracles; since they are always accustomed to the natural anything with a spice of the supernatural ignites their interest. So it isn’t today that many people throng to seek miracles. It’s been happening and will keep on happening. Jesus implies that the main aim one ought to follow Him is to believe Him, not just be a miracle seeker. *Miracle seekers are mostly “situational or need driven” than “believe- transformation driven”. They mostly believe in the power of God to change their situations not necessary for salvation.
