FOCAL TEXT: John 18 vs 11
►► “Jesus told Peter, “Put your sword back into its sheath. Shouldn’t I drink the cup that the Father has given me?”~|ISV|

BLISSFUL greetings, Cherished one. When the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ was nigh, Judas Iscariot betrayed Him and the soldiers went to arrest Him. _”Simon Peter therefore, having a sword, drew it, struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus” (John 18:10)._ Our focal verse unveils Jesus’ response to Peter who tried to fight for Him so that He wouldn’t be crucified. Our Lord willingly submitted to fulfill the will of God (Matt 26:42).
He chose to drink of the cup that the Father had given Him by dying so that His blood would be a propitiation for our sins. Apostle Paul revealed concerning our Lord: _”And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. (Philippians 2:8)._ So He humbly and obediently accepted the challenge to die for our sins. *He yielded without any argument or retaliation for our sake.* Jesus’ readiness to die implies His willingness to take away our sins (John 1:29).
*Jesus had every opportunity to give up dying on the cross.* Yes, He had every good chance to have stopped dying. He had enough time to have escaped to other cities; He had access to call the Father to release legions of angels to fight for Him. But He never utilized any of these because of you and I. Cherished one, Jesus died on the cross for you in mind to save you from your sins. *If you still haven’t believed in Him, then this is the right moment for you.* If you have, desire and press to enjoy the benefits of His death and resurrection. The rich grace of our Lord Jesus Christ abounds towards you always.
