24/7 DOXA Content, 12th November-LAZINESS IS A ROBBER

FAVOURED greetings, Cherished one. There is a saying that _“if wishes were horses beggars would ride.”_ This implies that it’s only the beggar who makes wishes and never pursues those wishes himself. Our focal text says “the soul of the lazy or sluggard person desires but has nothing”. According to Hebrew rendition, the lazy person sets his mind to covet, sigh, long waiting and engage in greedy wishing. Such are the words used to describe the desires of the lazy person. Instead of him to work for his own, he will rather covet.

To covet means to wrongly desire that which belongs to your neighbour. He treats lightly the times, seasons, resources and energy that his neighbour engages to get to the top. A lazy soul lays down and sits to sigh and wish things to fall on his lap. Unwillingness to work or make any effort for success or progress is the mindset of the lazy person. The Bible reveals the attitudes of the lazy: He loves too much sleep and folding of arms; “How long will you sleep, O sluggard? when will you arise out of your sleep? (Proverbs 6:9).

Also, he does not have the willingness to plough because he can’t face cold, difficulties or seasons of life. _”The sluggard will not plough because of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing” Proverbs 20:4)._ Refuse to love too much sleep; Make your mind and hands active in persistent diligence. Don’t allow laziness to rob you of the precious treasures in life. Awake from sleep, slumber, wishes and get to work because laziness has no reward. The rich grace of our Lord Jesus Christ abounds towards you always. Amen!

I DECLARE

I am a diligent person so I choose to put my hands and mind to creatively and productively device something worthwhile. The clinches of laziness shall not conquer my life. I stand up to work and the Lord blesses the labour of my hands in Jesus Blessed Name. Amen!
